NM is an Associate Professor at the Mediterranea University of Reggio Calabria (Italy). She earned her PhD in Informatics, Biomedical, and Telecommunications Engineering in 2007, receiving the Caianiello Prize from the Italian Neural Networks Society (SIREN). NM is the Chair of the INNS Artificial Intelligence for Neural Engineering (AINE) Section. From 2014 to 2018, she led a Ministry of Health–funded EEG research project at IRCCS Centro Neurolesi Bonino-Pulejo. She was previously a Post-Doc Fellow at the Mediterranea University and a visiting scholar at the University of Florida (2005, 2008). In 2022, she received the international “Hojjat Adeli Award for Outstanding Contributions in Neural Systems” and was listed among the World's Top 2% Scientists (2022-2025). She served as an invited keynote speaker at the Brain BCI & Neurotechnology Spring School (2023, 2024), powered by IEEE Brain Initiative. Her research focuses on deep learning, BCIs, neural systems, and complex networks. |
