Life Members (as of 2026)

In 2025, INNS established the Life Member category to honor our most dedicated members for their decades of commitment. This prestigious status represents the pinnacle of long-term recognition within the Society. Since INNS does not track member age, this category serves as a meaningful way to celebrate those who have anchored our community for 30 years or more.

Benefits of Life Membership:
  • Complimentary lifetime membership (future annual fees waived).
  • Discounted registration for all INNS-organized conferences.
There is no application process for this category. New Life Members are appointed annually by the Board of Governors during the Spring BoG meeting, based on a review of membership history.

 Senior Members (as of 2025)

In 2008 the INNS introduced a new membership category of Senior Member to recognize INNS members for their contributions, and to allow for a progression of the INNS members to a higher recognition membership status. The annual call for Senior Member Nominations generally takes place during the spring, under the following conditions:
  • A regular or affiliate member of the INNS, who has been an INNS member for at least 5 years, can be nominated by an INNS member for Senior Member. Self-nominations will also be accepted.
  • The nominee must have demonstrated a significant contribution to the theory and/or applications and/or education and promotion of the subject discipline, and this must be stated in the nomination letter.
  • Final confirmation of the Senior Members will be made by the INNS Board of Governors and appropriate announcements will then be made in various INNS communications.
  • New Senior Members will receive an updated membership certificate upon request.
