Society History

The International Neural Network Society (INNS) was founded in 1987 during the landmark resurgence of neural network research sparked by the rediscovery and rapid adoption of the backpropagation algorithm. Built by the field’s founding figures to foster open, cross-disciplinary dialogue, the Society has continuously driven the evolution of computational intelligence and artificial intelligence.

Explore our historical records, leadership archives, and retrospective collections below to discover how INNS has shaped the field over the decades.
